Checon’s metallurgy capabilities develop engineered material systems that directly control electrical contact performance, arc behavior, and service life. From powder metallurgy to cast precious metal and refractory alloys, materials are designed and processed in-house to support electrical contacts, contact assemblies, and bus bars with integrated electrical contacts used in industrial control and power distribution systems.

Our in-house material development and processing capabilities enable precise control of microstructure, conductivity, and arc erosion resistance—critical to reliable electrical switching performance.

Cast Materials 
Checon’s cast precious metal alloys are engineered to support electrical contact performance by balancing conductivity, mechanical stability, and reliability for high-duty switching applications. We manufactures cost-effective cast materials, including fine silver, fine-grain silver, coin silver, and internally oxidized silver cadmium (in a one-sided version).

Powder Metallurgy
Powder metallurgy enables fine microstructure control and consistent electrical performance in contact materials such as silver tin oxide (AgSnO₂), silver cadmium oxide (AgCdO), silver nickel (AgNi), and silver graphite. These materials are engineered for arc resistance, contact stability, and durability in high-cycle switching applications.

Checon offers a complete range of powder metallurgy products, including powder compacted, sintered, and extruded materials.


Pressed, Compacted Refractory Contact Tips 
To complete our capabilities, Checon manufactures refractory and pressed contact tips for demanding electrical environments where arc resistance, durability, and corrosion resistance are essential. We manufacture individually compacted tips made of silver tungsten, silver tungsten carbide, copper tungsten, and silver graphite.
